Sandra Jean Moseley, 58, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020. Sandra was born September 18, 1962 In Luling to James and Kathryn Rustling Short.

Sandy will be remembered for many things. Amongst those things were her since of humor, and enthusiastic laugh. She would laugh loud and joyfully; usually giving a stout slap on the shoulder to whoever she was laughing with. She was known to slap so hard when laughing, that she might shift you in your seat. She was also known for her peculiar way of wording things. Asking her for clarification might lead to such a laugh and a slap.

Her skills in the kitchen were known to all who were close to her. Many of her dishes were standard at family gatherings. Amongst these were her dressing, her broccoli, rice, and cheese, and her coconut cream pie. Others, such as enchiladas, steak and rice, or roast, were enjoyed outside of the holidays. Regardless of the time or place, people looked forward to her cooking. Her father loved her enchiladas so much, that he would often pay for the ingredients for her to make a large feast. The entire extended family would then enjoy them together with her and remind her how amazing they were.

She was known for much more than her humor and her cooking. She will also be remembered for her green thumb, and her love of her pets. She always had a large collection of healthy thriving plants and was happy to teach others how to grow them. She also always had a cat, a dog, or both, which she loved like family. She would often talk to them like they were her own children.

Her love and loyalty to family and friends were also well known to all who knew her. Everyone who knew her, knew they could trust her. She was extremely honest, and her conscious guided her to live that way. She was fiercely loyal but managed to avoid the trap of blindness to the faults of her loved ones. This can be a difficult thing to do, but she managed. She was not shy about letting someone know that she disapproved of their decisions, but she had the grace to forgive those she loved and offer the support they needed.

One of her most endearing qualities was her skill as a mother, and as a motherly figure, to the children in her life. After having children, they were the purpose of her life. She always put them before any of her own wants or desires, and never let her attention stray far from what they needed. This great love and care were also shared with her stepson, who she cared for as if he was her own son. She was also the default babysitter for many of her friends and family. Everyone who she knew trusted her with their children. They knew that under Sandy’s watch, their children would be watched over, protected, and well fed.

Sandy loved taking care of her children, even when they were already grown. She would plan and save money all year just to make sure she had plenty of gifts for them at Christmas. This was not necessary, but it showed how deep her love went.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and she would want all of us to focus on the happy memories when we think about her.

Sandra Is survived by her adoring family, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Roger Lisa Ostrander of Kyle, sons, Kevin Moseley of Cuero, Jason Moseley of Victoria, Jeffrey Wayne Moseley of Austin, sisters, Deborah Short, Terri Baetz “Cal”, Marilyn Dolezal all of Gonzales, grandchildren, Zachery, Savanah, Kristen, Kody, and Kelsey and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, J.W. Oeltjen.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
