Pre-Planning FAQs

Pre-Planning FAQ's

If I want to preplan my funeral should I prepay for my funeral when making arrangements?
Prepaying for your funeral in full, or in easy monthly payments, allows your family to avoid unexpected costs during their time of grief. It also keeps you in control of the costs by locking in the expenses of services and merchandise at the time of arrangements, and ensures that your wishes will be carried out. Alternatively, you may have a life insurance policy that may be assigned to the funeral home upon your death to pay for your funeral expenses.
Should I bring someone with me when I meet with my funeral director to make prearrangements?
Making your choices for end of life planning is very personal and should be your own. At the same time, you may want to have someone help you make these choices; someone who knows you well and is in full support of your decision to preplan your funeral.
Do I need to tell anyone that I have prearranged my funeral?
It’s a good idea that a trusted relative, friend, or legal representative be aware of the decisions you’ve made, and should have a copy of your prearrangement contract.
Can my family make changes to my prearrangements after I die?
You are the only person who can make changes to your prearrangements. Families are usually comforted by the fact that you took the time to arrange your services according to your desires. After your family becomes aware of your specific choices, sometimes they will want to add to the services to make the celebration of your life more special to them. If you want your family to be able to make changes to your funeral plans after you’ve died, you should have your intention noted into your prearrangement contract or your last will and testament.
If I made prearrangements with another funeral home, can I transfer my prearrangements to your funeral home?
Your prearrangements can be easily transferred to our funeral home, but there may be limitations depending upon how you’ve arranged to pay for your funeral. We can help you to understand the process and to take the necessary steps to transfer your prearrangements to our funeral home.
