Wesley Keith Brown, 56, of Gonzales, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017. Keith was born September 19, 1961 in Gonzales to Earnest Wayne and Carol Ann Cox Brown. He graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1979. Keith was a member of the First United Methodist Church, was serving as a director and secretary of the Gonzales Economic Development Corporation board of directors, was a member and two time Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks # 2413, is a Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, and served as committee chairman for the Austin Rodeo Hospitality Committee for 4 years. Keith worked with his father at W.B. Farm and Ranch Supply where he served as Vice-President of the company since 1986. Keith was born and raised in Gonzales where he enjoyed lots of fishing in neighboring tanks and whether he had permission or not, never seemed to pose a problem for Keith. As a boy he had a dirt bike that he used to tear up the country side. Keith was born with super powers and was required to use them from time to time. As memory recalls, Keith called upon his superpowers to jump through a window of a shed he and his little sister were locked in only to find that glass was his kryptonite as sutures followed his heroic act of saving his baby sister. Keith played a whole lot of baseball growing up and found himself as the starting catcher for the Gonzales Apache baseball team. Keith also loved to play the drums and served as the quartermaster for the Apache Marching Band. Keith was so talented on the drums that he played with quite a number of bands including Nobody’s Home and Bobby Allen Jones to name a few. Rumors persisted that Metallica wanted Keith to go on the road with them but the rumors never materialized. Still it wasn’t uncommon for Keith to be called into “sit-in” on a few songs for bands playing in various venues where he happened to be present. Keith loved many things, fishing in the bays near Rockport, watching Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy football, telling jokes and pulling pranks on people, competition BBQ where his briskets typically smoked the competition, cooking brunch on Sunday mornings for his family and adorning his house with thousands of lights for Christmas. He put up so many lights that when someone used the microwave the main breaker shut off. He loved ribeyes and baked potatoes that he cooked himself and fried chicken every day of the week. But truly his greatest love was his family. Keith was his children’s “go-to” guy. He always had the answers to solve their problems however troublesome they might be and he was always a “teddy bear” to his only daughter. Keith adored his wife; they worked every day together in the same building, went home together and cuddled on the couch before going to sleep together only to repeat the same routine for years with never a pithy word between them. He loved people, he loved to be surrounded by people and making them happy, his friends were family. Keith was an “eat, drink and live happy” kind of man, a philosophy he lived by even while he battled cancer, he had superpowers don’t ‘cha know and nothing could get him down, not cancer, chemotherapy or radiation treatments. He remained strong and earnest in fighting his aggressive illness and though cancer may have been a consequence of his early journey to heaven, memories of Keith Brown, stories of his robust life and the love of this gentle man will long outlive the memory of that which contributed to his passage to Glory. Wesley Keith Brown is survived by his loving family, his wife, Rosie Brown, father, Wayne Brown, daughter and son-in-law, Kirstie Lyn and Kevin Kuntschik, sons, Eric Duane Hull all of Gonzales, Austin Blaine Brown and his fiancé Jessica Garcia, Dakota Wayne Brown and his wife, Sierra, Brandon Robert Brown, sister, Lisa Treasure Kotzebue and her fiancé Mike Lawler all of Gonzales, grandchildren, Hailey Ruiz, Wesley, Zackary, Ryan, and Easton Brown, and Greyson Kuntschik. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Ann Brown and his son, Wesley Erick Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December, 1, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Gonzales Hermann Sons Cemetery. Pallbearers: Kirstie Lynn and Kevin Kuntschik, Eric Hull, Austin Brown and Jessica Garcia, Dakota and Sierra Brown and Brandon Brown. Honorary pallbearers: Lee Hincher, Frank Arechica, John DuBose, Dave Stewart, Carlos Camarillo, Ken Lysse, Lee Roland, Stan Bias, Rob Brown, John Atwood, John Oswalt, Jim Dehart, Marvin Wilkerson and Juan Gayton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of usual remembrances memorials may be made to the Texas Elks Children’s Services, 1963 FM 1586, Gonzales, Texas 78629.
