Obituary for Rosemary Huff Smith

Print
Rosemary Huff Smith, 80, of Harwood, passed away Monday, July 24, 2017. Rosemary was born February 1, 1937 in Harwood. She married Raymond Smith on October 28, 1985 in Pasadena. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the International Typographical Union, Order of the Eastern Star and Children of the American Revolution. Rosemary moved from Harwood with her family to Sharonville, OH when she was four years old. She attended school in Ohio before marrying Charles A. Pool who was serving in the U.S.A.F. Rosemary moved with Charles to various bases before settling in Cincinnati. In the summer of 1978 she moved home to Harwood. Rosemary had worked as a printer for the Cincinnati Post Times Star and several small print shops. She started trucking and making long haul runs working for a petroleum company. She often made runs from coast to coast. Rosemary worked as a personal driver for her son who works as Mississippi River Ships Pilot. She loved to drive and would often embark on long trips with her children or grandchildren to see fascinating sights and learn new things along the way. She was sure to stop at every state line they crossed for a quick photo to remember the journey. Rosemary was a loving mother and doting grandmother, but one thing was always clear, Rosemary ran the show. She always kept herself busy either working, crocheting magnificent afghans, keeping the scorebook for her grandsons’ baseball games or even while enjoying a Cincinnati Reds game. Rosemary enjoyed talking on the CB Radio while traveling and couldn’t pass an Olive Garden or Dairy Queen, two of her favorite places. Rosemary Huff Smith is survived by her adoring family, sons, David Pool of Cincinnati, OH, Paul Pool and his wife Roxanne of Belle Chasse, LA, Bruce Fortney of Williamsburg, VA, sister, Frances Huff DeChane of Harwood, brother, Wallace “Bo” Huff and his wife Diana of Mason, OH, grandchildren, Lana Pool, A.J. Irwin, Joshua Fortney, Apryle Dvorak and her husband Ty, Aiden Pool, great-grandson, Jeremiah Palmer and son-in-law, Barry Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Charlotte Miller, son, Stephen Poole, grandson, Jonathan Fortney, sisters, Auraley Huff, Martha Louis, brothers, Walter Huff, Jr., and Wayne Huff.
