Monica Rae Rouser Tilghman was born to William and Carolyn Rouser of Johnstown, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1967. Monica left this world to be with our Lord October 15, 2017. Her father passed away when she was only 15 yrs. old. She dedicated her life to her studies, wanting to be a forensic scientist. Unable to afford the expense of college, Monica joined the United States Air Force. There for 8 years, assigned to a Strategic Air Command base in Plattsburg, N.Y. She was a mechanical crew chief on a KC-135 Stratotanker, where she traveled all over the world. Monica was assigned to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for 6 months during the first Gulf War. While in the Air Force, she worked nights on base and attended college during the day. Often on the Deans List, she graduated with an AAS in MLT and a BS in Biology from New York University. After graduation, Monica was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force. She moved to Hitchcock, Texas to live with her uncle. That is where she met the love of her life, Edwin O. Tilghman and subsequently married in 1996. She joined in on an idea and a dream of Ed's by selling their house in Santa Fe, Texas and moving to Dewitt County where they purchased a farm. She subsequently applied for a job at Cuero Hospital and was then hired in 1998. She was a dedicated employee for 19 years, never being tardy or missing a days work until her passing. Monica was a loving and caring wife and a mother of four children, two of which she home schooled. Those two children are Christie and Tim. Christie is a graduate of Victoria College with an AS and an AA degree and is currently a Junior at UHV. Tim is a Registered Respiratory Therapist after graduating with Honors from Victoria College's Respiratory Care Program with an AAS degree in Respiratory Care.
