Mrs. Mary Jean Millican Burris Moore, age 93, of Luling, passed away two-week’s shy of her 94th birthday on Saturday afternoon, March 23, 2019. She was born April 5, 1925, in Luling, Texas, a daughter of the late Aubry Jackson and Winnie Pearl (Clary) Millican. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Charles “Fundy” Burris; husband, Horace “Pro” Moore; stepson, Jim Moore; one brother, Aubry Jackson Millican, Jr.; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was involved in many activities and organizations throughout her life. She spent many years working for the State Welfare Department, First National Bank of Luling, IBM, and as the secretary for the superintendent of Luling ISD. When she retired she and her daughter, Ginger, opened a flower shop in Luling next door to her home. Throughout her life she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Luling Ladies Golf Association, Texas Women’s Bowling Association, Rainbow Girls, Oopa Doopa’s, and was voted “Most Beautiful” every year in high school. She was a caretaker for her husband, Fundy, until his passing in 1990. She was an avid golfer for the majority of her life and enjoyed traveling to multiple golf tournaments with her husband, Pro, until his passing in 2005. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with her loved ones, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Easter was one of the most celebrated times in her home and she loved hiding eggs in the most impossible places for her family. She was an avid lover of food, especially butter, honeybuns, “frosted” Cokes, and anything her daughter made for her. Mary is survived by her son, Charles Aubry “Buster” Burris of Luling and daughter, Ginger Pearl Burris Powell (Jim) of Luling; her 14 grandchildren, Jen Lingbloom of Bellingham, Washington, Zachary Burris (Jacqui) of Dallas, Brooke Williams (Brian) of Florida, Amber Love of Luling, Misti Hair (Justin) of Lockhart, Lola Burris of Austin, Aaron Powell (Veronica) of Luling, Stacy Thomas of Kyle, Joe Reinagel of San Antonio, Randy Reinagel (Kim) of San Antonio, Derek Reinagel (Deborah) of San Antonio, Amanda Vinson (Thomas) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeni Miller (Shayne) of Granville, Ohio, Jason Moore (Sevil) of Istanbul, Turkey; her 29 great-grandchildren, Ilea, Chloe, & Maia Dibble, Shelby & Savanah Gonzalez, Carly & Jacob Ackermann, Colin & Jaxon Hair, Ainsley & Braxton Williams, Trinity & Riley Powell, Jace Thomas, Tyler, Ryan, Darien, Mila, Kasey, Kassidy, & Kayla Reinagel, Julie Matthews, Angela Dodd, Whit, Spenser, Hart, & Maggie Miller, with another great-granddaughter (Powell) on the way; beloved family and friends, Billie Jay Elliot, Dorothy Lamb, Linda Wright, Janell & Tom Montgomery, Butch & Susan Ward, and Samson & Anita Jesudass. She also leaves countless extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply. Family will receive friends from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at O’Bannon Funeral Home in Luling, Texas. The funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in the Luling City Cemetery.
