Lora Leanna Tschappatt, 58, of Gonzales passed away Monday, August 21, 2017. Lora was born September 24, 1958 in Galveston to Paul Lewis Miethker and Patricia Joan Davis Miethker. Lora married Anthony Wayne "Tony" Tschappatt on May 5, 1979 in San Antonio. As a toddler Lora moved with her family to Rochester, New York. She enjoyed ice skating and sleigh riding with her siblings that left frosty cheeks and warm memories. Lora made a determined effort to learn to play the cello but never quite mastered the instrument's complexities. In the mid-1970's Lora again moved with her family, this time to San Antonio where she attended and soon graduated from Churchill High School. After high school Lora worked various jobs before she married Tony and followed him to Houston. Lora worked as a clerk in the Alvin Community Hospital which may have been the origin for her interest in providing healthcare. She later worked in the offices of the MacGregor Dental Clinics in Houston before working with a prominent psychiatrist in Clear Lake. In 1992 Lora and Tony moved to Gonzales and Lora began her nursing studies. Lora's thirst for knowledge and genuine interest in providing healthcare to others led her to earning a certification as a Registered Nurse, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, a Masters in Science Nursing degree and in 2007 Lora became a Nurse Practitioner and began a marvelous career caring for others through the Siever's Medical Clinic. Lora was a selfless, caring and nurturing woman that always put the needs of others before her own. An early American poet wrote: "All that we send into the lives of others, Comes back into our own." Surely then, all the goodness, comfort and love that Lora Leanna Tschappatt unselfishly showered upon so many, now in turn is her reward in part. Lora was a loving wife and devoted mother. She enjoyed watching cooking shows which heightened her already superb cooking skills. She enjoyed reading and knitting but Lora loved competing in triathlons, half marathons and she had even run a marathon. Lora was an intelligent, strong-willed woman who was dedicated to her patients and passionate about everything good in life, most notably her family. Lora is survived by her loving family; husband Tony W. Tschappatt, Sr., son, Tony W. Tschappatt, Jr. both of Gonzales, sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida O'Neall and Owen of Springfield, MO, Trish Jones and Scott Matykiewicz of McQueeney, Leslie Whiteside and John of Gonzales, brother and sister-in-law, Paul Miethker and Terri of Jacksonville, NC and many nieces and nephews. Lora was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the funeral home prior to the service. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
