Obituary for Joshua Patrick Ivey

Print
Joshua Patrick Ivey was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 9, 1980. He was the youngest son of Walter S. Ivey and Shirley Dian Baker Ivey. Josh went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2019. After graduating from Palestine High School in 1999, Josh went to work with his brother, Todd, in the Austin area. He soon became an outstanding homebuilder and craftsman. He put his heart and soul into everything he did. Customer service and satisfaction was always very important to him. Josh was loved by all who knew him. He was always willing to go out of his way to help others and to lend a hand to anyone in need. He very much enjoyed visiting with his customers and was genuinely interested in their thoughts and opinions. After a number of years, he moved back to the Gonzales area and eventually started his pest control business. It was not uncommon to find him sitting on the porch, visiting with a customer long after he’d completed his work. Anyone who knew Josh, knew how much he loved his wolf dogs. Shadow, Willie, Juno, Rusty, and Sugar were like his children. He loved taking them to the river, and you would often find them riding shotgun whenever he was out and about. He was also a regular visitor of the Gonzales Animal Shelter, where he was always willing to help whenever he could. Josh truly loved all of his family and was especially blessed when his stepfather, Randall Tomas, came into his mother’s life, years after his father’s passing. Josh was preceded in death by his father, Walter S. Ivey, his brothers, Gregory and Jeffrey, his sisters, Annissa and Sherry, and his loving grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Shirley Baker Tomas and stepfather, Randall Tomas of Gonzales, brother, Todd Ivey of Gonzales, sister, Ginger Easterling and husband Paul, nieces and nephews, Dylan, Erin, Megan, and Ethan Easterling all of Luling, aunt and uncle, Carol “Cookie” and Bobby Cox of Gonzales, cousins, Brent Fridrich, his wife Lacie and their children Kylie, Bailey, Ashlyn, Lane, and Cameron of Houston, Ryan Fridrich, his wife Andra, and their daughter Kayleigh of Gonzales, David guest of Nome, Alaska, Uncle Roger Tomas and wife T, Aunt Linda Finch and husband Freddie of Manor and many, many cousins and loved ones.
