Obituary for Jarrett Blaine Falks

Print
Jarrett Blaine Falks, 28, of Gonzales, departed this world for his heavenly home on November 30, 2018. He had made his entrance into this world on October 20, 1990, in Victoria, Texas. Jarrett was the third son of John and Linda Falks, of Gonzales. His role was to bring more joy and laughter to his family and into this world. Jarrett was an active, curious baby who was climbing furniture before he could walk. Family members frequently heard his plaintive cry “Up on,” meaning he had climbed up on something, but could not get back down. He grew up in, and around, Gonzales, and he made a distinct impression wherever he was. He never lost his curiosity and dare-devil ways, and he delighted in playing pranks and doing the unexpected. He attended both Gonzales public schools and Emmanuel Christian School, graduating from Gonzales High School in 2009. His favorite pastime in high school was skipping classes. It is rumored that Jarrett knew something about a can of missing starfish, taken from the GHS Science lab, but this has not been confirmed. During his high school years, Jarrett worked part time for his family’s egg business. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force’s delayed reporting program. He continued to work for the family business until he reported for duty with the Air Force in 2011. After completing basic training at Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, he was assigned to duty in Fort Lee, Virginia, and from there, to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. After his discharge from the Air Force, Jarrett returned to Gonzales and again went to work in the family business. Jarrett was an outdoorsman from the time he was five years old, when he was first taken fishing by a family friend. He loved fishing, hunting, and being outdoors. He also liked motorcycles, and stories of his escapades on them abound. After his return to Gonzales, Jarrett began dating Jessica Joy Nelson, and on May15th, 2016, they were married. Earlier this year, they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Blakely, who is now two months old. Jarrett was very proud and happy when Blakely was born, and he surpassed all standards for being a good father. He dearly loved, and was loved, by his family, his extended family and by his many, many friends. Jarrett is survived by his adoring family; his loving wife, Jessica Joy Nelson Falks, precious infant daughter, Blakely Blaine Falks, parents, John and Linda Falks all of Gonzales, bothers and sisters-in-law, TSgt. J.D. Falks and Rebecca of Valdosta, GA, Joshua and Angel Falks of Gonzales, Jesse and KayLauni Falks of Gonzales, grandparents, Bruce and Elaine Baker of Gonzales, Mary Lou Falks of Kennedy, nieces and nephews, Nora and John Falks, Nikoli and Anastasia Falks, and a step-nephew, Draco Means. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Falks and uncles, Dean and Jarrett Baker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 in the Gonzales First Baptist Church with Pastor Lynn Wilson of Emmanuel Christian Fellowship Church officiating. Interment will follow in Hermann Sons Cemetery. Pallbearers: J.D. Falks, Joshua Falks, Jesse Falks, Jace Shock, Kyle Day, Tyler Carter, Tim Blakeney, and Tony Harkey. Honorary Pallbearers: David Stewart, Matthew Baker, Cody Mashburn, Benji Hill, Jeremy Allen, Darwood DuPree, Corey Veach, and DJ Richter. The family will receive friends at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home from 10 am to 12 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018.
