Print
George Louis Hayhurst, III, 73, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017. George was born November 3, 1944 in Freeport, Texas to George Louis Hayhurst, Jr. and Joyce Juanita Dixon Hayhurst. He married Sherry Lynn Tucker on July 20, 1980 in the Blackfoot Community. George had been attending Eastside Baptist Church before an illness kept him from attending. Though George was born in Freeport, he spent most of his youth growing up in Pasadena where he enjoyed playing basketball and riding his dirt bike with friends and later riding his Harley Davidson with still more friends. George loved watching sports, especially college football and golf. He graduated from Pasadena High School with the Class of 1963. George received a scholarship to play basketball for San Jacinto Junior College and later attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. George had worked for the USI Chemical Plant in Houston, J.H. Rose Trucking, Hill & Hill Trucking and Walton Transportation before he founded and built with the help of his parents Trinity Baptist Church in Keller, Texas. George’s passion for teaching the word of God took him to Sublime Baptist Church and Salem Baptist Church in Ezzell with a host of temporary church assignments in between for a combined 30 years of ministry. George’s faith became stronger as he grew older and each message was carefully composed in a manner that genuinely touched the hearts, minds and souls of his congregations. George was a gentle and wise man, and inspiring in the fashion in which he lived. George had a loving and calming force about him; he adored his family and cherished his relationship with each of them. George was a strict yet compassionate father and one would be hard-pressed to determine if he was more proud of his family or his family was more proud of him. George Louis Hayhurst, III humbly lived and preached the of the Lord, his desire to continue was abundant, but for unknown reasons his strength was not, at the end certainly George contemplated the words of Apostle Paul in 2nd Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” George is survived by his loving family, wife, Sherry Lynn Hayhurst of Gonzales, daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Lynn and John David Urbanosky of Caldwell, Jacquelyn Ann and Gene Kridler of Gonzales, son, Steven Louis Hayhurst and his girlfriend, Jessica Shook of La Porte, sister, Gwendolyn Trische of Wharton, grandchildren, Jeremy David Urbanosky (Kelly), Gena Marie Kridler Bennett, (Brian), Staci Lynn Urbanosky, Brook Shea Hamilton, Amelia Ashley Kloesel (Justin), Trey Kridler (Lexie), Bradley Steven Hayhurst and Bryce Daniel Shook, great-grandchildren, Zaelynn Hamilton, Brooks David Urbanosky and Adalynn Marie Kloesel.
