Estelle Ivey, 91, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019. She was born September 18, 1927 the daughter of Henry and Beulah Pullin McGee. She married Sam Ivey on November 11, 1951. She was a member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed singing at church, reading the Bible and working puzzles. She never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. She was a very Christian lady and cared deeply for her family and friends. Earlier in her life she owned the “Bobcat Drive-in” in Nixon. The drive-in was named after the Nixon football team and Estelle fed the team for free when they won a game. She had a big heart and fed kids even if they had no money. She is survived by her daughter Debbie West and husband Alvin of Gonzales; grandchildren: Alvin West and wife Julie Fort Worth, and Tammy West and wife Cynthia of Gonzales; sister Eunice Arnold of Nixon and brother Harold McGee and wife Karen of Austin; 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Ronney Gene Mansell; grandson Ronney Lynn West; brothers: Aubrey, R.D., Cecil, S.B., John, Utah, J.B. and Donald McGee; sisters: Bessie Reeves, Hazel Spradling and Beatrice O’Neal. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the funeral home with Reverend Clint Lowrey officiating. Interment will be at the Caraway Cemetery. Pallbearers include Benny Spradling, James White, Mark O’Neal, Robert Brown, Ray Walker and Alvin West Sr. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
