Billy Clayton Miller, 88, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017. He was born November 17, 1929 to Walter and Della Mae Bennet Miller in Gonzales County. He married Ruby Roeber November 25, 1950. He worked at the cotton mill, Abercrombie ranch; and was self-employed raising chickens, cattle, custom baling hay and bulldozing. He joined LeMont Menking in the Vermeer business repairing hay equipment later buying him out. He was skilled at building farm implements and trailers. He was an excellent carpenter, building his own home. He was a member of the Texas National Guard, Evening Lion’s Club, Play Day Association, spending many hours building the rodeo arena in Independence Park and Texas Trailrider’s making the trip from Altair to San Antonio for many years. He is survived by Ruby, his wife of 67 years; sons Barry Miller and fiancé Judy of Gonzales, James Miller and wife Tammi of Gonzales; grandchildren Katherine Harkey and husband Kennon of Gonzales, William Miller and wife Lauren of Lockhart, Jonathan Miller and wife Amy of Portland, Mindi Windsor and husband Stephen of Round Rock, Monica Miller of Gonzales, Apryle Divork and husband Ty of Yoakum and a special niece Rebecca Roeber of Tom Ball. Also surviving are two sisters Linda Sue Foreman and husband Ronnie of Seguin and Marjorie Gilroy and husband Monty of Blairsville, GA; two brothers in law Paul Harborth and Clyde Forrester and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Barbara Harborth and Doris Forrester; brothers Raymond, LeRoy, Robert, Stanley and Bobby. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Fellowship Church with the funeral service following at 10 a.m. with Reverend Lynn Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Denton Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers include Greg Roeber, Kennon Harkey, William Miller, Stephen Windsor, Jonathan Miller, Leslie Roeber. Memorials may be made to the Emmanuel Fellowship Church, 1817 St. Lawrence St., Gonzales, TX 78629. Arrangements under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales.
