Obituary for Wesley Robert Welsh

Wesley Robert Welsh, 71, of Gonzales Texas, passed away on Wednesday August 5th, 2020 in his home. He was born July 14th, 1949 in Fort Wayne Indiana, the son of Maywreatha and Robert Welsh. He was one of 4 children. On February 20th, 1988, he married Nancy Harvey, then later divorced in 2017. He graduated United High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant, Green Beret in the 1960’s and served 2 tours in Vietnam Special Forces. After his discharge from the military, he worked as a civilian office worker for the U.S. Army, and drove trucks. Wesley was a 100% disabled veteran. He is survived by his children: Wesley Williams, Belinda Stidman (Deron), Amanda Kingman (Tony) and Brian Welsh (Shauna). Audrey Hunt (Brice), Adriane Bushman (Peter), Emily Peterson (Thomas) and Elaine Alfaro-Cruz (Hector), and 18 grandchildren. His siblings: Harry McKinney Jr. (Beth), Will Grice (Pam), Becky Rickets (Alan) and his beloved girlfriend Lisa Robinson. He enjoyed being around family and friends. Also, collecting guns, hunting and motorcycles. He was known for being a skilled and intuitive person, who was also a problem solver who often took on difficult projects to help others. He was a hardworking father and a good friend, and a man who was always willing to give advice to those in need. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Wesley's burial will be held at 9 a.m. Monday August 17th, 2020 at Fort Sam Houston Veterans Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
