Russell Eugene Springs, 67, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February,3, 2015 at Gonzales Memorial Hospital in Gonzales, Texas. Russell was born on July 24, 1947 in Houston, Texas. He was the son of BJ and Rose Marie (Godby) Springs. Russell was an Eagle Scout. After graduating from High School in Houston, Russell attended the University of Houston, earning his Bachelor of Science in Technology, and Masters Degree in Business Administration. He worked for Gonzales County as a Probation Officer until his retirement. He liked to relax by reading, and also designed and made jewelry. He was a former member of the Lions Club of Gonzales, and a supporter and actor for the Crystal Theater. He was a member of the Abiding Word Lutheran Church, and the Prison Ministry, KAIROS. He is survived by his mother; Rose Springs, one son; Benjamin Jason Springs of Houston, Texas, one daughter; Heather Dawn Springs and her significant other, Will Simmons of Ft. Worth, Texas, five grandchildren; McKenzie Springs, Christopher Davis, Noah Springs, Savana Simmons, Megan Simmons, one niece; Shanna Cox, one nephew; Shea Cox, numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; BJ Springs, sister and brother-in-law; Sandra and Greg Cox. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 1310 Saint Louis St. in Gonzales, Texas with Pastor Kyle Backhaus officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the Memorial Service at a reception to be held at Russell s home at 1203 Saint Lawrence St. in Gonzales, Texas.
