Obituary for Peter Joseph "Pete" Cenotti Sr.

Peter ‘Pete’ Joseph Cenotti Sr., 88, of Peconic, New York passed away December 5th, 2020. Pete was born September 8th, 1932 in West Haven, Connecticut. Pete attended Bridgeport High School. Shortly after graduating high school Pete joined the United States Air Force where he served in Korea during the Korean War. Pete was later stationed in Japan, and then on Long Island. Pete married the love of his life, Dolores Ciarleglio, on March 2nd, 1953. After serving his country in the United States Air Force for ten years Pete was offered a job at Grumman Aero Space on Long Island where he worked as a calibration engineer for 29 years. Pete loved saltwater fishing and on weekends could be found with his family on the beaches of Long Island in a bread truck that he converted into a camper. He later began art dealing as a hobby but later turned his hobby into a business, Discovery East Galleries in Riverhead, New York.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents Dominick and Josephine Cenotti, brother Angelo Cenotti, sister Myra Lambrose, brother Anthony Cenotti, and grandson Francis Zwick Jr.

Pete leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Dolores Cenotti, daughter Debra Cenotti-Mickel of Grass Valley, California, daughter Sandra Dean and son in law Robert Dean of Mesquite, Texas, daughter Linda Gazzola and son in law Paul Gazzola of East Hampton, New York, and son Peter Cenotti Jr. and daughter in law Leticia Cenotti of Gonzales, Texas, brothers Dominick Cenotti, Joseph Cenotti and Albert Cenotti of Connecticut and sister Rosemarie Kempster of Florida. Pete also leaves behind longtime friend John B. Sepenoski Jr. of Peconic, New York.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 28th, 2020 at 9:30 am with a Catholic Mass with Father Jason Martini officiating will follow at 10 am at the Saint James Catholic Church at 417 N. College Street, Gonzales, Texas 78629. A burial will follow at the Saint James Catholic Cemetery located at Seydler Street and Saint Andrew Street in Gonzales, Texas 78629.

DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, New York and Seydler Hill Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas are assisting the family with the arrangements.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the church service and graveside burial rite.
