Merced Gomez Gandarilla, 62, of Waelder, passed away August 6, 2019. Merced, popularly known as Chela Acosta, was born August 6, 1957 in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, Mexico to Abraam Boreggo and Concepcion Gomez. She married Juan Gandarilla Ramirez in April of 2016 in Gonzales. Merced was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waelder.
Merced came to the United States in 1980 and lived and worked in Waelder for J-B Foods and Cal-Maine. She was a hard-working lady who finished her shifts and went home to lovingly care for her children and maintain a good home for her family. She loved her family and enjoyed visiting with friends. Merced was strong in spirit and will and taught her boys to believe in God and be strong and independent men.
Merced is survived by her loving family, husband, Juan Gandarilla Ramirez of Waelder, sons, Abel Gomez Acosta and Edey Garcia/Jaimes of Austin, Israel Acosta Gomez and Wendi of Houston, Luis Enrigue Acosta Gomez of Houston, sisters, Carman Gandarilla Gomez, Prisciliana Gomez both of Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Soledad Gomez of Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico and a brother, Juan Gomez and Francisca of Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with a holy rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2019 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waelder. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions in the name of Merced Gomez Gandarilla to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Friends may leave their condolences by visiting Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
