Obituary for Mary Estella Owens (Robson)
Mary Estella Owens passed away in Gonzales, Texas on March 7, 2022. She was born Elta Mary Robson on September 8, 1930, in Woolwich, Maine, to William and Elta Lenora (Brookings) Robson. She was the youngest of four children. She later legally changed her name to Mary Estella Owens.
She married Kenneth Charles Crooker in 1947 and they divorced in 1955. She married Preston John Owens in 1956 in Bristol, Tennessee. They had three children.
She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and found happiness. She held many church callings and was an active member the rest of her life. She loved to read western novels, knit, sing, and do crossword puzzles. She also loved to play Skip-Bo with her grandchildren and was very competitive at it.
She was predeceased by her husband, Preston John Owens, her parents, siblings Donald Robson, Miriam Robson, and Raymond Robson. She is survived by her children Kathy (Mark) Hutchings of Twin Falls Idaho, John (Jami) Owens of Harwood, TX, and Miriam Crandall (location unknown); 8 grandchildren, Mikel Hutchings, Thomas (Amber) Owens, Tyler (Leigh) Owens, Joshua Owens, Evan (Katie) Owens, Shenan Owens, Brett Crandall and Chalese Crandall, and 5 great-grandchildren.
At her request she will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried with her husband in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
