Martina Martha (Martinez) Hernandez, 82, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Texan Nursing & Rehab in Gonzales, Texas. A Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas, and will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 am at Saint James Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Mike Peinemann officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Buffington Funeral Home with Deacon Terry Brennan officiating. Martha was born on January 30, 1937 in Waelder, Texas. She was the daughter of Crespin and Maria (Villanueva) Martinez. Martha married Blas Hernandez on March 17, 1956 in Slaton, Texas. She liked to Cook for her family, and watch TV. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Martha is survived by three sons; Joe Hernandez and his wife, Rosie of Mansfield, Texas, Danny Hernandez of Richmond, Texas, Jesse Hernandez and his wife, Pamela of Katy, Texas, three daughters; Yolanda Harris and her husband, Roy of Rosenberg, Texas, Stella Cuellar and her husband, Ronald of Houston, Texas, Sally Filip and her husband, Marvin of Gonzales, Texas, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters; Julia Almarz of Gonzales, Texas, Josephina Nava of Woodrow, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Crespin and Maria Martinez, her husband; Blas Hernandez, five brothers, and three sisters. Pallbearers for Mrs. Hernandez will be; Tristan Hernandez, Ronald Cuellar, Roy Harris, Michael Arradondo, Joey Arradondo, Frank Cruz, Jr., Marvin Filip, and Daniel Almarz.
