Obituary for Lewis Paul Miller

Lewis Paul Miller, 82, of Gonzales, Texas, went to be with the Lord on July 6, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.
Paul was born September 27, 1938, in Waurika, Oklahoma, the son of the late Harley and Eva Stewart Miller of Olton, Texas. Paul grew up in Olton where he went to school and worked on the family farm. The Miller Family grew cotton, corn, raised hogs, and owned Miller’s Cage Eggs. Paul married Sarah Sue McIlroy on March 25, 1961. Paul joined the army shortly after their marriage and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis where he was stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas. During this time they welcomed their first daughter, Paula. After returning to the Texas Panhandle, Paul and Sarah welcomed their youngest daughter, Sharon, in 1966. After 25 years of working for Lamb County, Paul retired and he and Sarah moved to Gonzales, Texas in 2005, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Paul was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and during his younger years he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. If he wasn’t reading a Louis L’Amour book, he was watching a western on TV. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye. Paul was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Miller, of Gonzales; brother, Frank (LouAnn) Miller of Marble Falls; children, Paula (Jeff) Burress of Lampasas, and Sharon Barta of Gonzales; grandchildren, Chance (Meagan) Randolph of New Braunfels, Dusty Barta of Gonzales, Codie (Lance) Tucker of Lampasas, and Tristan Barta of Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Dallie Mae Tucker, Fallon Barta, and Kace Randolph; extended grandchildren, Kayla (Jason, Piper, Parker) Otto of Hondo, Sammy (Todd, Carter, Seth) Ulrich of Ft. Worth, and Carly Barta of Gonzales.
Mr. Miller is preceded in death by his brother, J.C. Miller.
