Obituary for Kathleen Helen McLain (Robertson)

Kathleen Helen McLain (Kathie) died peacefully on November 11, 2020 in New Braunfels, Texas at the age of 80. Kathie was born March 12, 1940 to Gus and Edna Robertson in Tulare, California. She met Darrell McLain, the love of her life, at Church and were married several years later, on July 13, 1957.

Kathie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Kathie had many hobbies during her life, but her primary focus was to support her family in all ways she could. Whether it was maintaining an impeccable household, preparing wonderful meals, giving the needed hug to a grandchild, Kathie was always busy serving those she loved.

During her life, Kathie had the opportunity to move to various parts of the country with her family. Everywhere she lived, she established her family’s home. No matter the town, she became active in a church, she served on various committees, taught Sunday School, served as a mentor and through her actions, shared her Christian faith. While living in Gonzales, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Two Rivers Bible Church.

Kathie, the family’s matriarch, leaves behind a family that loves her dearly and is grateful for her life. Greg McLain and wife Kris of Gonzales TX, Gina St. John and husband Gerry of New Braunfels TX, Lori Wuensch and husband Edward of New Braunfels TX, Philip McLain (deceased) and wife Piera Bergsten of New Braunfels TX. Kathie was blessed to have fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her.

Arrangements are being made by Seydler Hill Funeral home. A private graveside service for the family will be held Sunday, November 15, 2020 at 2 pm In Gonzales Memorial Park with Pastor Jesse Elizondo officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation of America, Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research, Hope Hospice of New Braunfels, or a charity of one’s choice.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the graveside burial rite. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home 906 St. Paul Gonzales, Texas 78629.
