Obituary for Jose M. Campos Jr.

Reverend Jose M. Campos, Jr., 71, of Gonzales passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021. He was born October 25, 1949 in Fentress, Texas the son of Jose and Alejandra Campos.

He was the longtime minister with the Templo Bethel Pentecostes Church in Gonzales. He established the church in 1980 and served as pastor until his passing. He enjoyed westerns, fishing, carpentry and visiting friends. Family life was especially important to him, taking his grandchildren to school and on outings and going to breakfast with his sister Mary. His faith was the pillar of his life and he loved reading his bible and preaching the Word.

He is survived by his wife Domitila Campos; daughters: Hermelinda Sanchez and husband Saul of Gonzales, Elsa Guerrero and husband David of Austin and Leticia Aguilar of Seguin; sons: Delfino Aguilar and wife Irma of Seguin, Jessie Campos of Gonzales and Alex Campos and wife Syria also from Gonzales; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers: Martin Campos and wife Elpidia, David Campos and wife Virginia, Juan Campos and wife Sylvia, Pete Campos and wife Leticia, Daniel Campos and wife Anita and Manuel G. Campos; sisters: Ursula Garza, Petra Magallanez and husband Manuel, Margarita Sanchez, Linda Hernandez, Mary Cortinas and husband Anastacio, Victoria Mica and husband Harvey, Louisa Capello and husband Carlos, Cruz Mata and husband Arturo and Marcelina Mica and husband John.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Thomas and Pablo.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, church service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend.
