Jewel Mae (Parker) Helmke, 95, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on August 21, 2014 at the Heights of Gonzales in Gonzales, Texas. Funeral Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Gonzales, Texas with Reverend Steve Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. Visitation will begin at 2:00pm Monday, August 25, 2014. The family will greet friends and guest from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas. Jewel was born on November 5, 1918 in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Jim and Lora (Bowen) Parker. Jewel married Barney Jordan (date unknown). In 1954, Jewel Married Milton Helmke in New Braunfels, Texas. Jewel enjoyed playing dominoes, watching game shows on TV, quilting, crocheting, and helping at the Church. Jewel is survived by two sons; Jimmie Helmke and his girlfriend, Betty Holt of Bishop, Texas, Jerry Jordan and his wife, Margie of Savannah, Georgia, two daughters; Lona James and her husband, Alex of Aransas Pass, Texas, Patricia Edwards and her husband, Alva of Austin, Texas, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jim and Lora Parker, husbands; Barney Jordan and Milton Helmke, and one son; Lavell Jordan. Pallbearers for Mrs. Helmke will be; Alva Edwards, James Culbertson, Ron Minks, Garrett Minks, Johnnie Miller, and Paul Leuyr.
