Jesse Chuy Rivera, 74, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas, and will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel in Gonzales, Texas. Jesus Cardena Rivera Chuy was born on June 10, 1941 in Gonzales, Texas. He was the son of Juan Vega and Maria (Cadena) Rivera. He married Sipriana Ortiz on August 22, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas. Chuy enjoyed playing pool and golf. He liked to go deer hunting and feeding the wild birds. He was an all-out fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. In his spare time, Chuy liked to build or make things from wood. Chuy was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas, but he always remained faithful to his home church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas by helping with many fundraisers over the years. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician until his retirement in 2003. Chuy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sipriana Rivera, one son; Jesse Rivera of San Antonio, Texas, two daughters; Sarah Brown and her husband, Arthur C. of San Antonio, Texas, Victoria Rivera and her Fiancé, Jeff Grauzer of Austin, Texas, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother; Juan Rivera, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, one sister; Susana Mendiola of San Antonio, Texas.
