Obituary for Henry Alvarez

Henry Álvarez, 57, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born March 17, 1966, to his parents John and Connie Álvarez. Born and raised here in Gonzales, Henry attended school and graduated from Gonzales High School in 1984.

He was a craftsman by trade, he had a career in construction and worked as an electrician. He loved working with his hands and being a part of creating something useful. Henry enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboys football games and Houston Astros baseball games, he was a devout and loyal fan. He liked to go fishing, deep sea and coast fishing, as well as telling a good joke. His sense of humor and positive personality are what made him so special, he loved his family wholeheartedly and was delighted when he spent time with them. Apart from loving his momma’s homemade cooking, he loved spending time and playing with his grandniece and grandnephews, they brought so much joy to his life. He was a family man, his world revolved around making others happy and letting them know how much he cared for them. The Álvarez family is deeply saddened by their loss, he will be remembered for his heart of gold, and they will continue to honor his memory.

Henry is survived by his mother Connie Álvarez, his sisters Liz Álvarez (Chris), Lorine Carrizales (Joe), his niece Miranda Álvarez, his nephews Joe Ryan Carrizales, Christopher Cantú, and Brandon Carrizales. His grandniece Lynnsie and his grandnephews Casen, Kyler, and Jace.
He is preceded in death by his father John Álvarez, Sr., his brother John Álvarez, Jr., and his sister Irene Álvarez.

A visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm, with a rosary starting at 1:30 pm. A Mass of The Resurrection will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Christopher Cantú, Brandon Carrizales, Joe Ryan Carrizales, Luis Zuniga, Joe Carrizales, David Vega, and John Olmos. Honorary Pallbearers include Casen Cantú, Kyler Zuniga and Jace Zuniga.

All services are under the care and direction of Seydler – Hill Funeral Home.
