Obituary for Helen Macias (Rivera)

Helen Rivera Macias, 74, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019. She was born March 2, 1945 in Gonzales to Emily and Angel Rivera. Helen was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Helen enjoyed all things in life, but her family always came first. Her strong mind and caring personality often made her the go-to person, and a shoulder to lean on. She could be described as a mother figure, as she poured out her unconditional love and made sure her family had everything they needed. When someone had a problem, Helen would be there to accept them with arms wide open. When she wasn’t spending time with family, or trying to keep up with them on Facebook, Helen could be found enjoying and caring for her house plants and flower beds, knitting, and playing computer games.

Helen was survived by her daughter, Tina Torres and husband Roger of Gonzales, sons, Reyes Macias, Jr of Gonzales, Steven Albert Macias and wife Belinda of Wichita, Kansas, Jason Angel Macias and wife Naomi of Austin, sisters, Elizabeth Rivera of Gonzales, Susan Rivera and husband Frank DeLeon of Gonzales, brother, Sonny Carrillo and wife Eva of Kyle, step-sister, Petra Rodriguez Bautistia and husband Jose of Gonzales, step-brothers, Serapio Gonzales and wife Rosemarie of Arlington, Andrew Rodriguez and wife Lisa of Arlington, 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
