Obituary for Evelyn Willeford Hill
Evelyn Willeford Hill, 89 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
She was born in Gonzales January 25, 1934, to her parents Melvin (Pete) Willeford and Ella Lena Spieckermann Willeford.
Evelyn traveled all over the U.S. and later resided in Jacksonville, Florida for the past 23 years. She attended school in Gonzales and graduated from Gonzales High School. Evelyn took on various jobs, she worked at Pepperidge Farms and was one of the first people to work on their computer systems when they advanced in technology by using computers. At her last job, she worked at Turner Construction for over 20 years as their accountant. Evelyn enjoyed her retirement and dwelled on the sweet things in life. Besides traveling, Evelyn loved crossword puzzles, they were a part of her daily routine. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and spending time with her family.
Evelyn lived a long fruitful life; her family and friends will remember her and the fond memories they have of her.
Evelyn is survived by her granddaughter Kimberly Smith and her husband Mark Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, her great-grandchild Anna Lynn Smith, her siblings June Beisch, Mildred Brewer, and Bobby Willeford. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Raymond (Freck) Willeford and Billy Ray Willeford, and her son John Hill.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at Seydler – Hill Funeral Home at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Hermann Sons Cemetery in Gonzales.
All services are under the care and direction of Seydler – Hill Funeral Home.
