Obituary for Ernestina Castillo (Ramirez)

Ernestina Castillo, 88, of Gonzales, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022. Ernestina was born December 16, 1933 in Gonzales County to Felipe Ramirez and Reyes Guerra Ramirez. She married Milton Castillo April 29, 1978. After Milton passed away in November of 2000, she married Francisco Garcia on February 13, 2010. She had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ernestina was raised in Gonzales County. Like many rural families of the time, she had her chores to do around the house and when she was old enough, she went to work to help support the family. At the age of 16 she married and through the years created a family of 6 boys and three girls. She was a loving and caring mother who was also a wonderful cook. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Catholic woman and shared her faith with her family. Dancing was another joy of Ernestina’s, as was listening to music. Ernestina always had a smile on her face and greeted everyone with the same warm and welcoming smile.

Ernestina is survived by her adoring children; daughter and son-in-law, Margarita Riojas (Frankie Lee) of Beeville, sons and daughters-in-law, Milton Castillo, Jr, Manuel Castillo (Delia), Martin Castillo, Mike Castillo (Becky), Max Castillo (Emily) and Marcos Castillo all of Gonzales, stepdaughters, Maria and Leticia Garcia, and step-sons, Gumaro Garcia, Feliciano Garcia, Bernardo Garcia, Jose Garcia and Cenobio Garcia, siblings, Antonio “Tony” Ramirez, Antonia Martinez and Anita Vegas all of Modera, CA, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
