Obituary for Earl Ray Floyd

Earl Ray Floyd, 82, of Dripping Springs, accepted his invitation to Glory, Thursday, March 17, 2022. Earl Ray was born November 27, 1939 in Gonzales to Edwin A Floyd and Alma Cowey Floyd. He married Sybil Lowry August 26, 1967 in Wrightsboro, Texas.

Earl Ray graduated from Gonzales High School and attended Durham Radio and TV College. He worked for General Telephone Company for 35 years. After retiring he started his own company, E.R. Floyd Telephone, and continued to work for another 20 years.

Earl Ray loved to hunt, fish, and tinker with cars. He enjoyed being a Ham operator in his earlier years. He was a man with a devout Christian faith. He enjoyed conversations and preferred warm hugs over handshakes. He loved unconditionally and treasured his wife, son, and grandchildren. He was a loving family man and joyfully loved to play Santa Claus for children.

Earl Ray is survived by his adoring wife of 54 years, Sybil Floyd of Dripping Springs, loving family, son and daughter-in-law, Dustin Ray and Tina Floyd of Wrightsboro, grandchildren, Riece K. Floyd, Caden Ray Floyd, Kody William Floyd and Kasey Earl Floyd and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Edwin A Floyd and adoptive mother, Mazie Dupree Floyd, sisters, Betty Floyd Cuvelier and Jeannie Hull Neitch.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Sunday, March 20, 2022 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. Monday, March 21, 2022 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Gonzales Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers include J.D. Quintanilla, Caden Floyd, Johnny Hudson, Terry Gieselman, David Sullivan, and Ben Metcalf. Honorary pallbearers Scott Cuvelier, Johnny Floyd, David Floyd, Rick Simmons, Robert Kennedy, Dale Schellenberg, and Glen Rasbury.
