Obituary for Dorothy Ann Green (Peterek)
Dorothy Ann Green, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 27, 2022. Dorothy was born April 10, 1929 in Gonzales County to Clement and Alvena Marek Peterek. She graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 1947 and married Dikes Green on June 14, 1947 in Gonzales, Texas.
Dorothy was primarily a housewife and homemaker; however, she did love working at the Gonzales Livestock Auction, the Veterinarian Clinic for Dr. Jones and for Bill Walker Plumbing. She enjoyed having fun with her niece and nephew where she would take them to the country to shoot frogs and then cook the frog legs with the children watching them jump in the frying pan in amazement. Many good picnics were enjoyed along the riverbank with a watermelon placed in the river to keep cool and homemade fried chicken to fill their tummies before the cool watermelon was pulled out. Horseback riding was always a delight on the farm with Dorothy and Dikes. She truly loved to sit in the deer blind with her nephew Ken waiting patiently for the right deer to present itself. Dorothy was so much fun that that she alone was the drawing card that continued to bring her family back for much anticipated visits. She kept track of their visits and phone calls by marking them on a calendar and calling them out if too much time had passed between calls. Dorothy was a loving soul and had so much love for her family.
Dorothy Green is survived by her niece, Bette Thull and husband Bob McDonald of San Antonio, nephew, Kenneth Peterek and wife Linda of Bergheim, great nieces, Kimberly Shelton (Scott) of San Antonio, Tamatha Busch (Mike) of Bulverde, and great-nephew, Jason Peterek (Stephanie) of Mico. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dikes Green, parents, children, Susan and David Green, and brothers, Herman and Gilbert Peterek.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm Monday, November 7, 2022 in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with funeral services being held at 2 pm in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Hermann Sons Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bill Walker, Scott Shelton, Jason Peterek, Mike Busch, Bob McDonald, and Kenneth Peterek.
