Donald Joe “D J” Bennett, of Gonzales/La Grange, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born on January 25, 1940, to John William and Annie Belle Pruitt Bennett in Harwood, Texas. Donald married Sandy B. on June 8, 1962, in Gonzales, Texas. He was also a member of the Army National Guard.

Donald and Sandy spent their time enjoying each other’s company, indulging in many activities. They could be seen dancing together and working as camp hosts in the differing state parks all around Texas. Donald was also highly known for his dedication to cooking for the annual Bennett family reunions. He was truly loved by all his family and friends.

Donald is survived by his adoring wife of 59 years, Sandy Bennett, and Darryl Bennett, Natalie Bennett, Marc Bennett and wife Melinda, 6 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and granddaughter Rachel Bennett.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 1:00 PM in the Harwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Darryl, Marc, Marcus, Aaron, Chandler, Allison, and Natalie Bennett.
