Obituary for Dolores Jo Pekar

Dolores Jo (Knezek) Pekar, 72, of Gonzales, Texas passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Saint David South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Funeral Mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at Saint James Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A Rosary will be recited at Buffington Funeral Home on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm with Georgia Pavliska officiating. Dolores enjoyed doing crafts and 1000 piece puzzles. She made Rosaries for family and friends. She played Bonko and solved Sudoku puzzles for fun. Dolores also did needle point, quilting and crocheting. Dolores was born on September 23, 1941 in Gonzales, Texas. She was the daughter of Emil and Lillie (Barta) Knezek. She married Daniel Pekar on February 11, 1961 at Saint James Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas. Dolores was active in the Girl Scouts, Catholic Daughters, Alter Society, ACTS, Saint James Adult Choir, and Czech Heritage. Dolores is survived by; five daughters; Kathy Balderas and her husband, Luis of Gonzales, Texas, Beverly Bond and her husband, Joe of Gonzales, Texas, Betty Jo Contreras and her husband, Rando, Sr., Susan Garcia and her husband, Jesse of Victoria, Texas, and Jeanette Pekar of Gonzales, Texas, one son; Daniel Pekar, Jr. of San Marcus, Texas, one sister; Lillie Doll Carson of Ingleside, Texas one brother-in-law; Frank Pekar and his wife, Judy of Gonzales, Texas, 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Dolores is also survived by her beloved dogs; Baby Girl, George, and Lola. She was preceded in death by her parents; Emil and Lillie Knezek, her husband; Daniel Pekar, Sr., one daughter-in-law; Judith Staton Pekar, one granddaughter; Kristi Lynn Contreras, one great-granddaughter; Makayla Marissa Pekar, one great-grandson; James Otto, three brothers; Stanley Knezek, John Knezek, and Emil Lee Knezek, one sister; Barbara Ann Whitley.
