Obituary for David Wayne Kotzebue

David Wayne Kotzebue, 53, of Shiner, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020. He was born January 27, 1967 in Gonzales the son of Alexander and Elizabeth Zissa Kotzebue. He married Lynette Anne Hairell October 22, 1994 in Shiner. He worked as a machinist for Boedeker Plastics Inc. for 22 years.

David truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. In his early years he enjoyed softball, golf and water skiing, and later family, friends, his farm and all his animals. His favorite color was burnt orange for his favorite team the Texas Longhorns, he wore those colors proudly. Win or lose, he never missed a game even on his wedding day.

David’s love for his wife was amazing, but every day he thanked God for his greatest love, his best friend and son Zackery Wayne, who blessed him with two little Longhorns that called him PeePaw. He is survived by his mother Betty Kotzebue of Gonzales; wife Lynette Kotzebue of Shiner; son Zackery Wayne Kotzebue and wife Kristien of Gonzales; grandchildren Lukasz Alec Zander Kotzebue, Kriztian Axe Zavier Kotzebue and Regan Wilkerson; sister Diane Connell and husband Robbie of Gonzales; brother Doug Kotzebue and Lynn Garcia of Gonzales and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and brother Dwayne.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner with Reverend Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow at the Kotzebue Cemetery. Pallbearers include: C.J. Knight, Charles McCaskill, Gary Schroeder, James Hairell, Richard Zissa and Tony Llamas.
