Obituary for Danny Ray "Dan" Hennig

Dan R. Hennig, 79, of Gonzales, Texas, passed away September 27, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. Dan was born in Clifton, Texas, on December 3, 1941, to Clint and Raynell Hennig of Whitewright, Texas.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Juliana Nelson Hennig, daughters Jessica Hennig, Carlotta Berranger and her husband Ivan, and son Zach Hennig. He was beloved as DanDan to his grandchildren; Chloe Hoffman and her husband Brandon, Clay Barden, Emma Barden, Mason Hennig, Marley Hennig, three step-grandchildren, Clementine, Igor, and Timmy Berranger, and great-granddaughter, Maeve Hoffman. Also surviving are his brother Joe Hennig and his wife Jan, his sister Janis Furness and her husband Don. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dan served as a senior human resources executive with PanEnergy, Duke Energy, and AGL Resources for many years, spending time in Kansas City, Houston, and Atlanta. Dan was most at home in the outdoors, was a lover of animals, cherished spending time with his grandchildren, and just being home at the ranch. He also loved sports, whether playing himself in high school and college, watching his kids and grandkids play, or watching football on TV. Dan was a loving father and mentor, a constant role model with firm and high expectations that helped mold many to whom they are today. He was always looking to have fun and is remembered as a perpetual jokester, just like his dad, Papa Clint. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and beloved dog, Josie.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Dan's name to Gonzales Dog Adoptions, Meadow Haven Horse Rescue, or Austin Dog Rescue. Friends may leave their condolences to the family by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
