Obituary for Barry Stephen Bright
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal. It is with great sadness that the family of Barry Bright announces his passing.
Barry Stephen Bright, our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 2, 2022. He entered eternal rest at the age of 75.
Born a twin to Eli Ray and Ruby Bright, on September 13, 1946, Barry called Gonzales home his entire life. He graduated from the Gonzales High School with the class of 1966. He was a proud veteran of both the U.S. Air Force and the Texas National Guard. Barry spent many days ranching and raising chickens. He was employed by Tom Lester, Sr. and Tyson Foods. Additionally, he was involved with the Gonzales Odd Fellows.
Barry met the love of his life, Linda Spahn, and that devotion was nurtured over the fifty years they were married. What he coveted most was family, faith, and church. More times than not, the simplest pleasures brought great joy to Barry. He enjoyed spending time with family, and taking care of his dogs. A refreshing swim, good fishing, and a rewarding hunt, topped the list of Barry’s favorites. He was always a fixture at his grandchildren’s ballgames, ceremonies, and programs. Barry cherished every memory he made on the cruises he and Linda took with friends.
Barry was a devoted Christian and a pillar of strength who gracefully led by example a life of faithfulness and complete surrender to the Lord. He would witness Christ to others without judgement or persecution. He lived a life of patience and love.
Barry was no stranger to a long day’s work. His profound work ethic was admirable. He was able to fix anything, even if we were unable to work it after he fixed it.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his wife of fifty years, Linda Bright, son, Todd Bright, daughter, Stacey Davis, son-in-law Wes, three grandkids, Keela Roberts, Weston, and Zachary Davis, brother, Bryan Bright and his wife Jackie, sister Elaine Baker and her husband Bruce, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His passing was preceded by his parents, brother, Bobby Bright, nieces, Ann Rhoades and Cheryl Bright, and nephew, Dean Baker.
Honoring Barry as pallbearers will be Henry Barnes, Barron Bright, Darwood Dupree, Keith Musick, James Porter, and Smokey Spahn. Honorary pallbearers include Larry Fortune, Harold Grauke, Scott Holmes, James Lassig, Tom Lester, Sr., David Pruett, James White, and the Gonzales Tyson employees.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Joy Bells, any local church organizations, or the charity of one’s choosing.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Methodist Stone Oak, Dr. Jenne, and the Siever’s Medical Clinic for their care and compassion.
