Obituary for Aurora Santillano (Ibarra)
Aurora Ibarra Santillano, of Gonzales, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born on May 11, 1934, in Waelder, Texas to Pedro and Margarita Banda Ibarra. She married Cruz Santillano on January 6, 1979, in Houston, Texas. Aurora was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Aurora was a nanny for most of her life. She made a special impact on the children she kept, even raising some from pregnancy up to their college years. She was one who enjoyed the simple things in life. Her home was her favorite place to be, and she enjoyed sitting outside on her front porch throughout the days and evenings. Her home was filled with love, and she displayed that with the many pictures and photos she had hung of her family on the walls.
Aurora is survived by her husband, Cruz Santillano of Gonzales, sons Jesse Garza and wife Rachel of La Vernia, John Garza and wife Anna of San Antonio, sister, Elisa Garza of San Antonio, brother, Pedro Ybarro, Jr. and wife Carmen of Houston, grandchildren, Anthony Garza, Jesse Garza, Michael Garza, LeaAnn Silva, Rhonda Carranza, Elizabeth Sanchez, and Gabriel Garza, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Socorro Capetillo, Maria VillaLobos, and Alfred Ibarra.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM, in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited beginning at 7:00 PM with Deacon Terry Brennan.
