Obituary for Arturo Pineda Mata

Arturo P. Mata, 65, of Gonzales passed away Friday, August 6, 2021. Arturo was born September 9, 1955 in Guerrero, Mexico to Santo Mata and Hermelinda Pineda. He was a faithful member of Iglesia Pentecostes Filadefia Church in Luling, Texas.

Arturo was the owner of A&S Recycling in Gonzales and served for 32 years. He was a giver, always helping others regardless of the situation, especially his family and community. At a very young age Arturo developed a strong work ethic, a principle he maintained throughout his life.

Arturo Mata is survived by his adoring family; wife, Cruz Mata, sons, Santos Mata (Elizabeth), and Santos Arturo Mata, grandchildren, Anthony Jacob Casares, Angelina Casares, Abby Casares, Israel Reynaldo Mata and Hannah Sky Mata, sisters, Sirenia Idrogo, Domitila Campos, Juana Nava (Guadalupe), brothers, Lazaro Mata (Dolores), Jose Jimenez (Alicia), Roberto Jimenez (Gabriella), and Adrian Jimenez (Yesica). He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Rain Jewel Alexandra Mata. Just days after his passing, Arturo’s beloved daughter Abigail Mata Casares joined him inside the gates of Heaven.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 pm Monday, August 30, 2021 in the J.B. Wells Expo Center. A rosary with a prayer service following will begin at 6:30. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the J.B. Wells Expo Center with Rev. Samuel Montoya officiating. Interment will follow in Cemeterio Bautista in Luling. Pallbearers: Santos Arturo Mata, Jose Salgado, Jonathan Guerrero, Joel Campos, Alex Campos, and Santos Mata. Due to the present uptick in reported Covid-19 illnesses, protective measures regarding social distancing, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, funeral service, and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
